An e-mail autoresponder is the e-mail marketer’s closest ally and friend. The importance of an autoresponder cannot be underestimated to neophyte, would-be e-mail marketers. All the e-mail marketer has to do once they’ve established an e-mail marketing list is to put their message sequence into the autoresponder. The sequential autoresponder will send out messages on a schedule. You can input as many messages as you desire all at once, and it will send them out over a certain period of time. If you add a new e-mail address to your database, it will send the first message in the sequence to the new user.

It can’t be stressed enough: autoresponders work. It takes at least 5 messages before a user will accept your offer. Conversion ratios from notable e-mail marketing studies show that there are several reasons why it takes at least 5 e-mails before a customer will accept your offer. Number one is that they’re busy and might not have time to read your offer. Second to that is that they don’t trust you. Third, and finally, is that they might not absorb or understand the offer on their first, second, third, or fourth offer initiation. People gradually respond to something that’ sent over and over again because it builds intimacy, trust, and personal feelings between the marketer and the customer. Customers like to feel like you’re friends with them, that you’re trying to give them something that they’ll really want, and you’re continually sending out e-mails with different reasons why they should sign up. None of this is possible without an autoresponder doing the work for you. It literally puts your business on autopilot.

It would be impossible to keep track of new users, existing users, user replies, conversion ratios, click-through ratios, and other things without one. The importance of an autoresponder, well, it’s paramount.
